Course Curriculum
Our Mat Pilates Course is a 135 Hour course to ensure that you can teach Mat Pilates well upon completion.
CLASS ATTENDANCE & OBSERVATION
- Minimum 35 Hours Group Classes + Observation
ONLINE SELF DIRECTED LEARNING MATERIALS
- Online Modules with access to 50+ Mat Pilates Moves and Foundational Theory, approximately 40 hours.
TEACHING COMPONENT
- 25 Hours In Person Practice Teaching & Learning (practical days - 8th-10 January)
- 30 Hours Independent Practice Teaching and Cueing (self directed learning).
- 5 Hours Assessment Prep for video submission to be submitted after the In Person Portion.
- Support from community of graduates, teachers in Facebook community and via email.
- Assessment via video submission at a later time (subjected to completion of online hours).
Completion of Online & Self Directed Learning Hours is not required before the In Person Days. The In Person Days are designed as part of your learning, and as part of the 135 hours. Early sign ups are recommended for your hours to start building your hours.

Do I have to have experience on the Reformer before doing this course?
We get this a lot! The answer is no. Mat is actually the foundation to Reformer so we recommend you to take the BALI Mat & Reformer bundle to make it a great start to your Pilates Journey, and make your trip to Bali worthwhile.
How long do I have access to the course?
After enrolling, you have 1 Year access to this material. Hard copies of your materials will be made available for you during the In Person days.
What support will I get during the course?
You can ask questions at any time on our facebook page The SO Academy (immediate lifetime access to our Facebook community) and have any of your question answered by your teaching team, trainees and graduates. You would also get access to communication to your teaching team closer towards the course date.
How is the training structured?
Your training does not only consist of the online materials. As part of the programme, you will be required to do some self training and practice hours, attend group class for observation and practice hours, along with your practical in person days.
Your certification is only granted upon completion of all the necessary hours and tasks.
What currency is this training priced in?
We offer NZD pricing at checkout. You can choose to pay in full up front (and receive a discount) or on a payment plan.
Failure to complete payment plan will affect completion of certification and access to materials.

What is included in the course fee?
The pricing includes In Person hours, practical assessment via video, online materials and short quizzes, hard copy manual and support throughout the course. Daily lunch and tea are included in your tuiton fee. Travel, visa and accommodation cost to Uluwatu, Bali is not included.
Arrangements to In Person Location.
Students are required to be at Rumah Kayu Resort for the In Person dates of the course (8th-10th January 2026). Students are responsible for arranging their own travel, accommodation and visa processes to Bali, Indonesia. The SO Academy & Rumah Kayu are not responsible for arranging any of the above, however, students will gain access to a special rate to stay at Rumah Kayu after enrolling. We recommend staying at the location if possible to ease the travel stress!
*As part of our birthday week promotion (22nd-30th September 2025), your tuition fee will include a 3 day 2 night stay at Rumah Kayu Resort, daily breakfast, lunch and tea. Simply book your flights and arrange your visa for this course if you sign up within this period. Limited spots available!!
Do I need to finish all the online component before the practical dates?
No, you can hop into the practical course before finishing the online component. The online components are designed to supplement your In Person learning days. You will only need to then arrange a later time with The SO Academy to submit your completion exam once you finish your online and self-directed hours.
You will need to ensure that your payments have all completed before taking your exam.
